As my Pastor has pointed out on several occasions, the scripture doesn’t speak about “modern worldly work” very often, many times the relationship is denoted as a slave/master functionality – but the scripture’s guidance is the same.
The two passages that my Pastor pointed out are Colossians 3:22-25 and 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ that you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. – Colossians 3:22-25
-and-
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Bell? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you, says the Lord. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” – 2 Corinthians 3:22-25
I believe that what scripture is telling me here is that a perhaps difficult decision is on the cusp of happening here, I need to decide whether I want to be glorified in the eyes of my employer, or be glorified in the eyes of the Lord.
No brainer here. I’m going to continue to pray on what the Lord’s will for me will be. I have faith that I have a gift waiting for me in Heaven, and that as long as I praise His name, there are better things waiting for me on Earth as well.
Thank you, Jesus.
